company's visited for seniors

The placements for seniors have started and since last Saturday companies started visiting. these companies have a very high package and with just 1 to 4 posting for job. with our seniors engineering and m.tech students are also attending so i guess it will be a tough competition for our seniors and may for us after an year. well the folling are the companies visited and their package.

I recently got a news that Microsoft visited for placement and they only allowed for engineering students, well this was not a good news and we MCA students are also best in computers. I keep hearing about bill gates that "he failed in his studies and didnt complete his studies but he's the owner of microsoft now". well these sure inspirational words for students likes us but after knowing that they didnt allow for MCA's i feel shame on microsoft. and i don't expect to join even if i get a chance in that company.

on 6th aug, "SuccessFactors" with package about 7 lakh and only 4 postings and the cut-off was 70% only in MCA as for engineering and others it was through 70% marks, i got to know that among 250 members only 14 were selected after aptitude(1st) round and only 1 of our senior was trough it. their were 3 technical rounds after aptitude and questions were asked on all the programming languages and dbms and in designing also. only one of our senior clear all the rounds and his final result was on hold till now.

on 9th aug, "Goldman Sachs" with the package around 11 lakh and with only one post. This was a huge package isnt't it. ok the cut-off was 80% in aggregate only in MCA and for others was throught. havent got more details about it this much is what i got to know.

on 10th aug, which is today "Thought Works" with 5.7 lakh package and only 1 post, cut-off was 70% in MCA, I got to know that the aptitude round didnt actually had apti question instead they had questions on the programming languages and their where no options the students had to write the answers if they know. about 400 students went for aptitude and only 80 among them where suppose to be clearly. only 4 of our seniors cleared it and they were waiting for the next round results in which they had to choose a programming language and they should write two programs for two questions provided to them within 1hr 30min time. ill update more information as soon as i get.

Start with Resume

As i first thing i got to know today is to prepare my resume and the resume should contain the basic details as name,address,qualifications,etc and also the projects i have done till now in which i have learnt something and also all the conferences and workshops i have attended. my madam told this gives an advantage either and as from now on i should keep on updating my resume once i have made it. updates like in some days ill be attending some more workshops and as soon as i have completed those workshops i update my resume.

i need to decide my special interest in the IT field now itself as i need to concentrate more on that as develop my skills. special interest does hope a weight-age to the resume.

its also weigh to my resume if i have had completed courses in some of the langauges or development tools, foreign languages(to speak and read)..!!

thinking to concern my senior who will be attending campus interviews this year and ask him to give the details on how to start preparing from now on and also i'm thinking to check his resume which might help me to prepare mine in a proper manner.

okay so this is my first post and i just wanna tell that, this blog im creating is to keep posting about what i think and what ill be doing for getting placed in a software company. and i got a year time from now on and i must be preparing for campus interview and also completing my studies to finish my post graduation course MCA.
